Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home was established in 1938
and operated with only one parlor and one chapel.
It was the only funeral home within the western Jefferson County area
and also one of the only ambulance services in this part of the county.

Over a period of time, our business in funeral service expanded so well that we were forced to build a branch chapel in Hueytown, about ten miles from our present location. Soon after we built this branch chapel, a Birmingham family involved in the funeral industry came to Bessemer and built another funeral home. This funeral home has since been in business for twenty five years, but never has affected the growth of our traditional firm.
